Caught gutting WI open gov't law, Senate regroups, cuts blue-collar wages
The GOP-run Wisconsin State Senate, reeling from its role sneaking into the pending state budget a rollback of the state's foundation open records law, bounced back tonight by approving a cut in wage rates paid to workers on projects financed by local governments statewide.
That makes no sense, you say, so congratulations! You've figured out core GOP 'values' and what makes these Republicans tick.

A pattern has clearly developed. They put out a wild proposal, beyond imagination hoping that it slides through. If it doesn't there is always another real agenda they wanted through. If that agenda is too much they pull an item or two out of it to make it appear that they care. They laugh and stay up all night dancing after they get it passed. Don't think for a minute this was all in the planning, the smoke and mirrors cover what they really wanted all along.
They think they are saving municipalities money, but they are actually slitting Wisconsin's economic throat to justify the tax breaks to the rich and corporations. Eventually, even the rich will not flourish in Wisconsin and they will have the funds to move meaning even less revenue to the state from the meager taxes they do pay. Cutting taxes for the wealthy hurts everyone including them. They end up with so much they can't spend it, can't invest it, and it ends up doing no one any good at all. So, what's the point except to be able to say they have it? I'm not sure what you call that other than greed and gluttony of money, but everyone loses in the end.
Are the Republicans who are passing and promoting tax breaks for the wealthy looking to reap their own windfall with no thought to anything or anyone else? All they care about is their own greed. Whether they like it or not, they are a part of our society. Nothing can change that. What's good for society is good for them. It's a shame they cannot see it. People like Voss have been sucked into the ALEC and Koch Bros. schemes so deep that he can't see the nose on his own face. He is obsessed with doing their bidding. And, all they care about is making the rich richer and making Corporations free of regulations to pollute, pillage, and destroy our environment.
James....they have no values besides putting party before people and greed before need. I can't help but believe this constant effort to cut wages is not impacting local economies and come 2016 the voters are going to have enough and at the very least change the makeup of the Senate so that common sense and reason can be restored to Wisconsin government.
There is an election for State Senate in Waukesha County within the next 2 weeks. Paul Farrow left a vacancy to be Waukesha County Executive. Although considered a for sure - all bets on Kapenga - voter turn out in heavily populated Republican Waukesha County, the City of Waukesha, which use to be pretty evenly split, could drop a bomb on the Senate. If Democrats and ticked of blue collar workers in Waukesha make a big push for voter turn out, the seat has the potential to flip.
Watch this one closely!
Who is the Democratic candidate? We need to get his or her name out there, pronto!
Sherryll Shaddock is the Democratic candidate.
