Walker budget to end UW sexual assault orientation, some crime reporting

[Updated] Walker the Destroyer. Who in his or right mind would send a child to a UW campus?

From Walker's budget - - and read the entire link's contents for all the programs Walker's budget would end at and by the UW system.

25. DELETE LANGUAGE RELATED TO SEXUAL ASSAULT INFORMATION AND REPORTING

Governor: Delete the requirement that the Board direct each institution and college campus to incorporate oral and written or electronic information on sexual assault in its orientation program for newly entering students and to supply all students enrolled in the institution or college campus with the same information in either printed or electronic form.

Delete the requirement that the Board of Regents submit an annual report to the Legislature regarding the methods used to comply with the above requirement.

Delete the requirement that any person employed at an institution who witnesses a sexual assault on campus or receives a report from a student enrolled in the institution that the student has been sexually assaulted report the assault to the dean of students.

Delete the requirement that each institution report annually to the Department of Justice (DOJ) statistics on sexual assaults and on sexual assaults committed by acquaintances of the victims that occurred on the campus of that institution in the previous years, and that DOJ include those statistics in appropriate crime reports.
[Bill Section: 1171]
The UW and Walker have subsequently to online reports about these changes that the data referenced would be collected but consolidated in a single report, that sexual assault orientation is embedded in UW culture and the changes were sought by the UW.

"... to try to shut that whole thing down. But let's assume maybe that didn't work or something. I think there should be some punishment, but the punishment ought to be on the rapist."

If there are no problems reported, then anyone can see there are no problems reported.

Mission Accomplished!

We more than ever have to find a medium by which the public can be alerted to what this sick, sick man is doing to this state and its government and educational systems by virtue of hidden away policies and directives in the budget bill. He doesn't have the courage to put these in stand alone legislation rather he hides them from public view. How he can claim that he is un-intimidated when in point of fact he is a COWARD IN EVERY SHAPE MANNER AND FORM!

Walker's office says the U W requested this as federal mandates are still in effect and this language was redundant. I simply cannot believe any explanation coming out of Walker's office particularly when it pertains to deleting or ending a practice or policy

Scott Walker just proclaimed open season on girls in on the campuses there! Time to get out and get some notches on my belt!!!!

It seems there is a GOP war on victims of sexual assault. They want to just sweep rape under the rug. It reminds me of Ron Johnson testifying against the Child Victims Act and protecting Representative Bill Kramer from sexual assault charges by one of his staff. How this fits into a budget bill is impossible to know. Thanks for posting this. I hope it gets picked up by one of the printed papers too.

The Walker folks are now trying to claim that it's a duplication of effort from federal reporting. Yessss, because our DOJ would have no interest whatsoever in the incidence of sexual assault on colleges campuses....(head desk)

I'm beyond words at this point. This is what happens when you children and bubble-worlders in charge of the adult world.
