About that poll showing Evers over Walker, 54%-41%

The Marist poll shows Walker behind Tony Evers

by 13 points in a hypothetical statewide race for Governor.

Look: I know it's just one poll among many that will surface, but this information on the Marist.com website suggests the poll is worth respecting:
For its work during the 2016 presidential election, The Marist Poll was rated number one for accuracy by Bloomberg Politics, and along with its battleground state polling partners — NBC News and The Wall Street Journal — The Marist Poll also received an “A” rating from Nate Silver’s FiveThirtyEight.
Again, caveats emptor galore:

it's one poll. With a sample of over 1,000.

November is a long way away,

And the poll is certainly no reason for over-confidence.

But I'll bet Walker is taking it seriously.

What’s shocking about this poll is not the results, but the fact that it was conducted at all...by a respected, national organization, no less. Living in Wisconsin, you’d think the only poll that ever existed was the Marquette Law School Poll. From the newspapers, TV news, and even Milwaukee’s NPR station WUWM, all I ever hear is Marquette, Marquette, Marquette, Marquette.

I hope your description of the Marist Poll as “just one among many that will surface” comes true. We need to see a variety of them, not just one from one organization. I am tired of local media treating the Marquette poll as if it were carried down from a mountain by Moses on stone tablets, with no other results needed.

Just for the record: While I am doing my research, keeping an open mind, and will gladly vote for whichever Democrat wins the primary next month, Tony Evers has always been my favorite.
