Scott Walker ran up majorities elsewhere, but got 25% fewer votes in Ashland and Iron Counties combined than did Mary Burke, records' reporting shows.
Burke's vote total was 5,234. Walker's was 4,085.
People want the Penokee Hills and the Bad River watershed along Lake Superior left alone.

Maybe paper ballots account for this?
More people oppose mountain - top removal, forest clear-cuts, waterway filling and toxic runoff than favor them.
