Muddied landscape, fiscal picture may frame Mt. Pleasant Day Saturday

The 15th is Mount Pleasant Day in that village of about 26,000 people.

But recent flooding into the Pike River off the 3,000+ Foxconn-acre site there

to which local officials have rushed a pledged, borrowed $764 million that has just dropped the local bond rating - - thereby raising the cost of future borrowings - -  might put a new cast on this year's event.

That's on top of an earlier credit bureau rating downgrade for Racine County also tied to the heavy Foxconn debt obligations, so for Mount Pleasant residents, a double-whammy.

I will add this information to an archive of Foxconn posts I have written and collected since June, 2017.

From the Village website:
  1. Mount Pleasant Day 2018 Once again, the Village will celebrate our community with Mount Pleasant Day on Saturday, September 15, 2018! This free, block party-like, family-oriented event will be open from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the Mount Pleasant Campus Park
