Waukesha County Exec Vrakas Don't Need No Stinkin' Commute-Time Data
Dan Vrakas wants I-94 widened to four lanes in each direction from the Marquette Interchange to Western Waukesha County - - despite data that says otherwise.
That would probably double the billions already projected (and unfunded, of course) for widening the corridor to three lanes.
And take out who knows how many more homes, businesses and graves already threatened at three cemeteries near Miller Park.
Just another example of the brain congestion that happens when conservatives talk about highway spending.

If I recall correctly, you complain about the commute time routinely.
Any amateur citizen can calculate the amount of wasted daily work time (formally known as man-hours) consumed by the rush hour commute.
You typically use this time to advocate for solutions that will move a few hundred people.
And predictably, you ignore that time when it comes to solutions that tens of thousands or people would actually use and that would cost far less.
We really don't need a study - we need to get it done.

The problem with widening I94 is that it won't really reduce congestion.
Why not use the I94 $billions for deficit reduction instead!?
And just a side note, if lost work time is really your concern, imagine all the work time that might get accomplished on a train instead of sitting in traffic.
Vrakas can't say where the money would come from - - or who would lose their property - - all supposedly key conservative cornerstone concerns.
He's just throwing out pap for voters and road-builders.
The people who would lose their property would mostly be Milwaukeeans, and most of them probably vote for Democrats. So that's not Vrakas' problem.
And the money is no big deal. Government spending is perfectly OK as long as the money doesn't go for schools or health care or poor people.
