Check Out This Comment On My Scott Walker/Train-Killing Daily Kos Post
I put up a version of this blog post on Daily Kos, and I want to reprint one telling comment from "Habitat Vic:"
"Just seven days after his election, he gave a keynote speech at a startup business conference in Madison - right in the midst of tv/newspaper coverage about cancelling HSR.
He starts out joking about how he once again will have to get used to doing the commute between Milwaukee and Madison. Then he smiles and says he'll need to do something efficient, "maybe start a carpool." When he says that, there are audible groans/gasps/laughter in the audience of 400 people. The stranger in front of me, turns around and shakes his head, saying "gee, like maybe HSR?"
Walker hears the audience groans & snickers, then smiles and nods his head - thinking he scored some humor, but oblivious to the irony or discord in the audience members (business types, yes, but in Madison after all). Went right over Walker's head, as he thought the audience was laughing with him not at him.
Sort of a Christine O'Donnell moment. Walker, Ron Johnson, Paul Ryan (my congressman), both state houses are Republican - its going to be a tough couple of years."
