GOP Likely To Give Environmental Favors, Access To Corporate Interests

Conservation organizations correctly note the likelihood that the GOP will weaken environmental regulation in Wisconsin after January 3rd.

Leaving the selection of the Department of Natural Resources Secretary selection in the hands of the Governor as a Cabinet officer, instead of with the somewhat less-politicized DNR Board was a mistake by out-going Gov. Jim Doyle, as it will strengthen Walker's hand and the access of special interest groups - - like the road-builders and Wisconsin Manufacturing & Commerce - - to influence public policy.
