Yep, being inconvenienced a handful of times per year justifies it all, doesn't it?
Two years ago, I drove into downtown Milwaukee each day to work. Currently, I'm at four days. And, I see it eventually winding down to 1-2 days per week.
Telecommuting is a great thing and lessens the need for public services.
You berated Cty Exec. Walker and his support for bus improvements, yet in order for light rail to be successful, an integrated network of buses to take commuters to/from rail stations is required.
Ya know the snowy conditions shown in the YouTube video - there is know way I'd walk the 14 blocks in those conditions from the Amtrak station to get to work.
I believe the original Marquette Interchange plans had a rail line built into the plans, yes? I bet there were a lot of people wishing that we had that this morning.
Also, Tom, I believe James rightfully "berated" the future former county exec for slashing bus service, a trend that continues unabated. Don't give him credit for supporting transit of any sort. He doesn't deserve it.
Rail is great. The only way you can go 110 mph in a snowstorm, like the Milwaukee Road did with the Hiawathas as early as 1935.
Our current transportation policy is so far backwards it isn't even funny. And Tom in Brookfield...the Milwaukee bus transport system did not improve under Walker, and is as vulnerable to gridlock as automobile transport in a snowstorm.
To Tom: You forget that many people do not have cars.
Nor is every job in sync with telecommuting.
Conservatives are for choice, but not when it comes to transportation.
