Considering the amount of time Walker has been away from Wisconsin doing the Goat Rodeo Warmup Two Step, if he was being paid the minimum hourly wage he couldn't afford to live on it, even if it was raised...
Mary Burke should be running ads right now about giving Wisconsin a raise. Show Scott Walker saying Wisconsin doesn't have a job problem, it has a work problem and people could make it if only they would better themselves. Mary Burke could then say, "Scott Walker thinks that if only minimum wage workers would work harder they would be able to make it. I know that some of you work extremely hard at not only one but two and three jobs and still can't make ends meet. If elected I want to raise the minimum wage to $10.10 because unlike Scott Walker, I don't believe $7.25 is a livable wage."
There are 700,000 Wisconsinites living on poverty wages and many of them don't vote. If she wants to win, she needs to get some of these people out to vote for her. I think most people would make an effort for a $2.85 an hour raise. There are no undecided voters in this state, but there are plenty of opportunities for new voters.
Walker also talks in this interview about helping out Skyward. He and Wisconsin were all set to give the bid to a Minnesota company, even after Skyward lodged complaints of bid rigging. http://www.uwsp.edu/pointeronline/Pages/articles/Wisconsin-Bids-Against-Skyward.aspx
And wasn't that bid-rigging under the first person to head WEDC, who left soon under, um, interesting circumstances.
Rep. Sean Duffy [R] WI 07 has said he has a hard time making ends meet at $174,000 per year. That seems to me enough evidence to completely make Walker's minimum wage statement laughable.
