Righty Groups May Be Thrown Under Walker's Bus

[updated 11:51 p.m. Wednesday] Ouch. This could be the ultimate proof of Scott Walker's opportunistic, 'me-first' mentality:

Gov. Scott Walker's campaign may be negotiating with prosecutors as part of a secret investigation into the 2012 recall campaigns involving him and other candidates, according to an anonymously sourced opinion piece in the Wall Street Journal...
Until now, the newspaper's editorial page has defended Walker against what it says is an unconstitutional violation by prosecutors of his campaign's free speech rights. In Wednesday's editorial, the newspaper attacked Walker, alleging that his attorney was negotiating with prosecutors at a time when they are facing legal setbacks.
"Sounds like Mr. Walker has to decide whose side he's on — his own, or the larger principles he claims to represent," the editorial reads.
And it's at times like these when it helps to remember this Scott Walker famous/infamous line:
When he says he believes in government transparency, it's not just a campaign slogan, Walker said.
"I don't just say that, I've lived it," he said.

your nuts -- koch just dumped nearly $1 million in ad buys for walker.

You are reading far too much into this and your headline greatly overstates what the WSJ is reporting.

walker has to cut a deal, if he doesn't, the emails and documents will be made public.....

This isn't going to hurt any of his teabaggin' backers or millionaire donors.

Hopefully there will be no plea bargain after all the preaching by the right wing that what wrong with the justice system allows criminals back on the streets

What is it that they don't want us to look at while this is making the rounds of news organizations?

The oligarch groups wouldn't have leaked that warning in the a Wall Street Journal if Walker's deal didn't give them up. They were clearly threatening to cut off the money train with that article.

The problem for Scotty is that I don't see how he can still be governor in January 2015 if he takes the deal- he'll look intimidated and crooked at the same time. But maybe he wants to be a Faux News contributor instead

Could be that more damaging than the charge of opportunism is the charge that Walker has put himself in a position where he can be intimidated by the monied interests who have financed his career. He who pays the piper gets to call the tune.

In this case, it looks like the attorney for CFG is more interested in a legal victory for his client than in a political victory for Walker.

The true-believer wingnuts don't get it. Walker is the man who speaks with God. He is not supposed to sacrifice himself for them, they must sacrifice themselves for him. Amen.

Sure sounds like the "Friends of Walker" are not so friendly when the issue becomes not right or wrong but rather who can win. If they think Scotty won't put himself first and let them swing in the breeze then they don't know the down and dirty Walker.

Strange effort at misdirection in a press release from the Walker campaign today:

"The statement by Friends of Scott Walker was attributed simply to the campaign and not to any individual and appeared to deal only with the federal lawsuit, not the state investigation in which both the Club for Growth and Walker’s campaign are targets.

“Neither Governor Walker nor his campaign committee are parties to the federal lawsuit. This means they have no legal standing to reach a settlement or deal in their lawsuit,” the statement reads in full.

Notice that the Walker campaign statement says nothing about the state charges he may face, and evidence related to that. Randa was covering for Club for Growth in that case, not Walker (directly).

Total weasel-speak that makes Walker look nervous and guiltier, if that's possible. Even the J-S is having a hard time keeping their boy from looking like he's connected.

Sounds to me that the deal is from the D.A.'s office to get this thing dropped and avoid being personally sued for allegedly violating constitutional rights of citizens from a separate civil action.

In short, the D.A. in Milwaukee County may have overreached and now faces a potential career ending move.

That's some quality satire right there. I see people that are far from "Unintimidated", but they're not the prosecutors.

Projection is not your friend

Satire?

Let's see how long the witch hunt continues when budgets are blown away on defense lawyers for the 'good guys'.
