Jefferson County Wants Full Review Of WI Enbridge Pipeline Expansion
[Updated 12:30 p.m. with comment deadline, links, DNR email] Jefferson County wants the DNR to complete a full environmental review before Enbridge, a Canadian company with many spills on its record, is allowed to greatly expand a tar sands crude oil pipeline through Wisconsin.
Here's The Sierra Club's release on the Jefferson County Board's action:
Jefferson: The Jefferson County Board passed a resolution 27-2 on Tuesday urging the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources to reject the air permit for the proposed tar sands pipeline expansion and undertake a full environmental assessment first.
“As Supervisors, we were just doing our job last night. Jefferson County residents recognized a threat to their environment, their resources, and their quality of life and stepped up and asked us to protect them. There was no doubt how we should proceed. We were just doing our job ensuring these residents have a voice in the process,” said Walter Christensen, the Supervisor who introduced the resolution. You can read more links to and history about the project, here.

Thank you Jefferson County Board for listening to the people! If you can keep this project stalled/ceased so my grandchildren's grandchildren have a clean Jefferson County to live in, I am forever indebted to you!
