Actually, I think the GOP was looking for any excuse to avoid repeating that repetitive Star Wars Bar Scene format of the 2012 primary debates, during which Rick Santorum, Michele Bachmann, Ron Paul, Rick Perry, the 9-9-9 pizza guy and the moon colony King drove millions of saner voters away.

in 2016, the barroom scene will also include Jabba the Hutt.
Go ahead. Back out of the debates. See how that sits with independents and those undecided....
Better move would be for the media outlets to ignore the GOP candidates entirely, and only interview Dems. You don't want to deal with CNN or NBC, Mr. Priebus? Well, your wish is granted!
Jake, you KNOW that would disrupt the "both sides do it" and "He said, she said" narratives of the tv news outlets.
I guess they could keep on having McCain as a guest, though.
