Gun In The Home = Domestic Shooting

Data show that guns in the home are far more likely to used by family members against each other, rather than against intruders for self-defense.

Current Milwaukee case in point:

A 27-year-old Army veteran who police say fatally shot his wife Sunday during a quarrel at the home they shared with their young daughter contends the victim committed suicide.
I have cited this data before.

Even so, what is your point?

Do you think that guns shouldn't be allowed in homes?

yes, you have, Jim. Of course, certain commenters will ignore it or pick nits on a particular case, or maybe link to a debunked urban myth.

Slate has an interactive chart of gun deaths -- just since Newtown -- that is currently standing at 1478. In a little over a month.

http://www.slate.com/articles/news_and_politics/crime/2012/12/gun_death_tally_every_american_gun_death_since_newtown_sandy_hook_shooting.html

I sincerely doubt any significant number of those are 'defending my home against crazed drug fiends" sort that is usually trotted out as the need for military grade weaponry.

so the data is pretty clear; if you want to keep your family safe in your home, do not keep guns there.

This is tragic, especially with the young child at home.
If the woman did indeed commit suicide, she wouldn't have been able to do it without the gun in the home--she couldn't have stabbed herself or shot herself with a bow and arrow.
If he killed her, he wouldn't have been able to do it with anything other than a gun, if he was planning to use her suicide as an excuse.
So either way, the presence of the gun fostered the woman's death. And I thought guns didn't kill people . . . . I guess I just proved that one did.

James, you should know by now that facts have a liberal bias.

James,

The facts are the facts, but what is your point.

Can you answer the question....

Do you think that guns should be allowed in homes or not?

I can also make find a statistic that shows if you are under 1 year old and live in Milwaukee you are likelier to be suffocated to death by your drugged up mother rolling over on you than you are killed by a firearm.

Should we also ban drugs?

Keep banging your drum...

Ever hear of somebody slitting their wrist, hanging themselves, overdosing on medication, CO in the garage and many others.

The only thing you proved was that you are an uniformed idiot.

James, I did not realize there was a UNIFORM for journalism.

Does it have a hat? I always thought journalists should have hats...

Ok, Rayguns, you win . . . . the battle of uniformed idiots. Congratulations. Enjoy your prize.

I knew once the topic turned to idiots that Boxer couldn't be far behind. He/she is always so insightful...

Welcome to the show.
