Fund-Raising Walker Traveled As Gov. With Rindfleisch

Gov. Scott Walker has been subpoenaed to testify in the misconduct trial next week of Kelly Rindlfeisch, his former deputy chief of staff while Milwaukee County Executive and also a candidate for Governor.

Rindfleisch is a veteran GOP operative.

The Madison Capitol Times did some fine enterprising reporting earlier this year revealing that Walker continued to use Rindfleisch's services following her departure from the Milwaukee County Executive's office. subsequently, four felony charges were leveled against her by Milwaukee County prosecutors [An earlier version of this posting misstated that timeline.]:

As I wrote in May, 2012:

Hats off to the [Madison Capital Times] newspaper, the sources it cites in its report, and certainly for this tidbit:

For instance, on April 8, 2011, the governor’s schedule notes his trip to the Heritage Foundation’s Annual Leadership Conference in Palm Beach, Fla., but reveals little else about the trip...

The records show that Walker gave a 15-minute speech at the event, which was headlined by conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh. The trip was funded by Walker’s campaign, and he was accompanied by campaign fundraiser Kelly Rindfleisch, currently facing four felony charges for alleged illegal campaign activities while working for Walker when he was Milwaukee County executive.

The Heritage Foundation event was in April 2011, which was indeed after Rindfleisch left the county but eight months before she was indicted.

Thank you for the correction, Jay, which I have edited in, and acknowledged.
