Mining Company President Won't Take Ownership Of Assembly's Farcical Bill

Apparently, he wants more than the bill already gives away, reports the Ashland Current:

...Gogebic Taconite President Bill Williams appeared at Thursday's Ashland County Board meeting to address concerns about the bill's various provisions, including one reducing the amount of tax revenue given to local municipalities from mining operations.

Williams denied playing a role in authoring the mining bill introduced in the state assembly last week. When asked by Board Member Xander Waters, Williams said he did not know the bill's author, adding that the bill was “probably a combination of a bunch of different people and a bunch of different agencies and organizations.”

“If you think the mining company did it, (the bill) would look a lot different.... It's not all that appealing to us, but it's not a show stopper, either,” Williams said.
