Sun-Times Pay Wall, With A Mandatory Sub After 20 Free Visits Monthly?

Sounds like a loser to me.

After 20 views, readers will be required to subscribe.

Print subscribers will be offered a rate of $1.99 every four weeks. Online-only subscribers will pay $6.99 every four weeks, or about $78 annually.

It amazes me that micro-payments have never taken off. If newspapers think they MUST charge for content (which I disagree with -- they just need to digitize their archives, secure a decent content-specific ad system, and make the money from the long tail of search) charging $.25 to a LOT of people would pay off greater than charging a few full price.
