Looks Like Thursday is 'Open For Bigotry' Day in Wisconsin
Gov. Walker seems inclined today to sign the bill pushed by far-right GOP legislators like New Berlin's Mary Lazich to help local school districts retain their race-based Native American logos, names and mascots.
I'd written about it often on this blog, but mistakenly said Wednesday was the deadline.
Can you imagine Walker signing such a bill, defending it out on book tour/political trail and shaming the state if these images and names stereotyped African-Americans, Asians, Muslims, Jews or other ethnic or racial minorities?

I can't believe Walker is allowing schools to keep the name Vikings!
I am of Norwegian decent and I am appalled that my ancestors would be recognized this way.

of course, since "Vikings" is not a derogatory term, and Norwegians are hardly a discriminated class, it is not really comparable.
"Norwegian Decent" is an awesome Freudian slip though. A variation of "Minnesota Nice".
Speaking of bigotry, looks like New Mexico has joined the ranks of states who are leaving Wisconsin in dust on marriage equality.
Yep. New Mexico Supreme Court just upheld marriage equality, unanimously.
There are some in the state GOP who want to reverse this (I am sure readers are shocked) and the Gov, Republican Suzanna Martinez, wants a constitutional amendment to overturn the decision. This ain't Hawaii in 1998. I think its a done deal. Hope so, anyway.
