This Week's Unusual Storms Echo Bush-Era EPA Warning

The rare November tornado outbreak across the Midwest brought to mind a lecture I sat through in Chicago in 2004 by EPA officials from the George W. Bush administration who were warning Midwestern local government officials that their budgets and infrastructure were insufficient in the face of climate-change storm events on the way.

I've blogged about it a few times. Here's one example from 2008.

Though the Wisconsin DNR main webpage on climate change has not been updated for 17 months - - no surprise, as Scott Walker signed the Koch Brothers 'no-climate-change-action' pledge - -  you can work your way past that page through a sole link to information on climate change and Wisconsin weather produced in 2011 in collaboration with the UW-Madison.

Now that Wisconsin has Act 10, finding the money shouldn't be a problem. Those unfortunate people in Illinois have a whole different set of circumstances to deal with.
