Septic Waste Dumping Tests DNR's Enforcement Resolve
Looks like Scott Walker's "chamber-of-commerce mentality" DNR has to decide if and how to enforce septic waste dumping violations in central Wisconsin:
The DNR received complaints against a number of septic haulers in western Marathon County and Wood County, according to the agency's wastewater engineer Fred Hegeman. The DNR let an offender in southern Wisconsin off with a slap on the wrist the last time a high-profile case made the news, and in that one there was a political and campaign donation connection between the dumper and a top DNR official.
“Our conservation wardens found haulers that were disposing of septage illegally,” says Hegeman. “They were land disposing behind buildings [and] dumping it at the end of roads.”
