Walker No-Brainer: State Pension System Needs No Fixin'

The national model needs no changes.

As argued here, though I did think Walker would do a little free-market inspired tampering around the 401-K edges.

Nope.

Bloodbath averted. Good policy, smart politics.

The pension plan is another government benefit either non-existent or being phased out by private sector employers. It's a very bad deal for taxpayers and will lead to more cuts in benefits (or less/smaller) pay increases for government workers. It's not a portable benefit so you better plan a long career as a government worker.

@Anon: Potable like the failed 401? no thanks
Bad deal? Looks like their investments in solid wokers and pension system is working out just fine.Just ask any of the career Republicon senators, agency heads or Walker himself. Think they will vote to change the pension system. No way bucko.

It's not smart politics. Walker just had no chance to get away with it at this time. Why do you think he used all those weasel words.

Those donations from Hank Greenberg and co weren't for shits and giggles. Stay vigilant.

Oh, and if you actually read the report, you find WRS is a GREAT deal for taxpayers. Not a dime of taxpayer dollars go to WRS administration, and the economic stability that hundreds of thousands of Wisconsinites have from it mean a sizable bump in economic activity for the state. Anyone arguing against it is a damn fool, or a shameless greedhead.
