Wisconsin Republicans Embarrass Themselves On National Cable Shows Wednesday

State Sen. Mary Lazich, (R-New Berlin), got her name mispronounced by Stephen Colbert, but her silly bill to criminalize Bart Simpsonesque prank calls was accurately described, and suitably mocked, on "The Colbert Report."

Only one response to that.

Ditto...no mega dittos...to State Sen. Glenn Grothman, who chewed gum or sucked on a sour ball during MSNBC's "The Last Word With Lawrence O'Donnell."

The lure of televised face time, even on a hostile program, was so irresistible that it led Grothman to sit and chew or suck on whatever was in his mouth while four regular, intelligent Wisconsin Capitol protesters pounded him verbally into submission for characterizing State Capitol occupiers as "slobs."

With friends like these, Scott Walker needs no enemies.

O'Donnell's Grothman/protesters interview became unwatchable -- and started to make Grothman look reasonable -- once O'Donnell let the protesters talk over each other for several minutes. I wondered if O'Donnell had stepped out for coffee. (I guess I'm just not connecting with O'Donnell as a news show host. I keep getting impatient for Maddow to start.)
