Add media stonewalling to WI DNR's science, public interest divorce

I appreciate the Green Bay Press Gazette's meticulous unmasking of the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources intentional media stonewalling policy.

And I add it to the agency's calculated divorce from the people and science and its legacy mission ordered up by right-wing GOP Gov. Scott Walker and his hand-picked "chamber of commerce mentality" cudgel, Cathy Stepp.
Wisconsin DNR Secretary Cathy Stepp proudly shows off her first deer, taken opening weekend last year. In the upcoming TV Special "Deer Hunt Wisconsin 2012, Stepp urges male hunters to take more girls and women hunting. "The secret's out," she says. "Hunting is a lot of fun, so don't keep it to yourselves." photo courtesy of Wisconsin DNR

Reading the Durkin article - it's all so familiar. Upper management can't figure out what to say so Jim Dick "has no comment." They would rather die than ask staff to answer questions because staff can't be relied upon to toe the company line. The so-called "Department leadership team" spends most of their time running in circles trying to sound like they know what they are talking about while trying not to say anything at all so they can't be accused of telling non-truths. Too much fun at the DNR.
