Media, Feds Should Investigate Favor To Known Lake Michigan Polluter
I'd invite my friends in the national media, and in government, to investigate the outburst of obscure string-pulling and back-door, special-interest legislating and rule-making taking place to declare as a National Landmark a ship that has been dumping hundreds of tons of coal ash a year into Lake Michigan.
A good Madison-based summary story is here, and the index on my blog will pull up many posts and documents on my blog beginning in June, 2009, and through earlier this year, too.
If this is the way national environmental compliance policy is made in America - - with quickie amendments and too-clever-by-half-extraneous interventions, we are really in trouble.
