Important Streetcar Project Hearing In Milwaukee Tonight

Comments, support needed tonight for modern rail transit. Here are the details:

Representatives from the Federal Transportation Administration will be in attendance and the City has submitted its application to fund a route extensions (from the Intermodal station north up 4th Street/Juneau, and from Ogden north to Royall Place).

Note that Cincinnati's streetcar plan is moving forward, and that city's population, at a 2010 Census-pegged figure of 297,000, is half Milwaukee's.

Although the hearing is for comments on the environmental assessment (EA) document, a strong show of support for the streetcar will demonstrate Milwaukee is serious about building a better transit system.

The hearing schedule is:

Wednesday, November 16, 2011
Frontier Airlines Center,
400 W. Wisconsin Avenue, Room 101, Milwaukee

Doors will open at 5:30 p.m., followed by a brief presentation at 6 p.m.
