Weak Response By Walker & Friends To Email Dump

Walker won't take questions today, the Journal Sentinel reports, and AM 620 WTMJ talker Charlie Sykes attacks the newspaper - - "the dead tree" - - for writing "one of the most dishonest and misleading headlines" it's run in a long time.

Here is the hard-copy headline...

Records link Walker to secret email system

...which is completely accurate. The electronic story's headline is essentially the same, though it uses Walker's full name and substitutes "emails" for "records."

A complaint about a headline?

Very weak tea.

And for Walker - - former Eagle Scout who kept saying he didn't know anything about the Nixonian atmosphere just down the hall in the County Executive office suite - - the headline is a harpoon, an image-buster.

And I thought Sykes made a tactical error when complaining about the print media agenda - - another myth - - that the story was also big in The New York Times and The Washington Post.

That's not damage control. It's fueling the fire, as The Post's lede is pretty tough:

MILWAUKEE — Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, who has had his eye on a 2016 presidential run since his battles with labor unions made him a Republican star, is dealing with the fallout of two criminal investigations at home that could complicate his move to the national stage.
For Walker, the national blitz will be the first time some voters will learn his name and grasp details about his past.

Every politician's nightmare.

Which makes Walker's silence telling and damning. And self-destructive, as many folks will remember that fellow-scandal-plagued GOP presidential wannabee and Governor Chris Christie had the courage to take questions for 90 minutes when his staff's wrong-doing made rough seas for the boss.

Walker does not do brave very well.

All in all, a bad day at the office for Walker & friends, but made worse by shallow responses.

If this is Eagle Scout integrity this proud group will need to rethink how they want their organization to move forward. Their poster boy governor from his days in Marquette student government to Milwaukee County Executive to the governors office has shown a serious lack of integrity, honesty, class and dignity! Not the type of leader Eagle Scouts typically become nor the traits expcted.

OK this is turning into to a really, really bad news day for Wisconsin Republicans as GTAC President Bill Williams has been criminally charged in Spain for crimes against the environment and criminal damage to the public domain. When it rains it pours.

"And Walker suggested reaching out to Journal Sentinel editorial writers, noting: "The next problem will be editorials and this can nip it in the butt."

Sounds pretty kinky to me :-)
