SEWRPC Didn't Make Sustainable Communities Final Federal Grant Cut

I had recently asked whether the Southeastern Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission had applied for funding under a nifty $100 million HUD grant program for sustainable community planning by regional commissions.

SEWRPC told me it had.

But the list of winners doesn't include SEWRPC.

In Wisconsin, there are three:

The Madison area commission is a finalist with two proposals totaling $1,195,000.

An organization in Lac du Flambeau, one grant proposal for $525,000 and SEWRPC's southwestern regional counterpart, in Platteville - - one application for $475,000.

But SEWRPC - - the planning commission representing the largest region in the state, the most urbanized, and without a housing plan for the region since 1975 - nada.

So it goes.

Here's a link from HUD to the list.

it would be interesting if you could get the scoring info.

i was never sure SEWRPC was a good lead entity for this, and i assume to complete lack of regional cooperation - esp from suburban communities - doomed this.

It is obvious where SEWRPC's priorities are. Nothing as progressive as Sustainable Community Planning or alternative water resource planning with smart growth..... or an UPDATED Housing Plan!
