Walker Budget Probably Wipes Out Urban Land Purchases Through Stewardship Fund

How?

By requiring that all lands acquired have "full public access."

That's code for allowing hunters, snow-mobilers and other users who conflict with bicyclists and hikers who frequent trails and open space in cities and the 'burbs.

It's great to have these lands available for hunting and fishing and motorized vehicle uses up North, but in the more urbanized areas, do we want snowmobiles flying across the land and bullets overhead?

Even in rural areas, bikes, ATVs and horses don't mix well on trails. And some rural properties have restricted access to protect endangered species or keep out invasive species.

So if this means what you think it does, it undercuts the purpose of the stewardship program.
