Wisconsin Senate Will Spin Off Its Axis At 1:30 PM Today

That is when debate, or should I say, self-righteous finger-pointing extraordinaire, will be launched by Republicans over a mining bill they dredged from lobbying and secret drafting muck so deep and toxic that Senate GOP leaders cannot find the votes in their majority caucus to pass it.

So doing what they have done so often under Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald's imperious direction (leadership would be an unfairly substantive description)- - a style that features self-justification over awareness, and which appears to have made him eligible for a history-making recall election this spring - - Republican Senators will evade their responsibilities for the bill they birthed, scour the rule book for some sort of parliamentary scale-tipping, and failing that...will instead...

Blast Democrats for being unwilling to sell out the public's inherited environmental legacy, legal status in mining application reviews, access to clean water and Native American sovereign nation treaty rights won long ago from the US Government - - all to masquerade as special-interest subservient Republicans for a day, cross over and save the GOP from itself.

No wonder Walker is said to be considering a special session to force the bill's approval: official job numbers for January and February come out Thursday, and Walker, facing a recall election for sure, needs the mining 'win' to dilute more bad job numbers and news - - he's had six straight months of negative numbers - - that trends suggest are coming.
