Mercury Marine Contract Approval Logical, Yet No Doubt Tough

In a down economy, and making a discretionary item, the workers at Mercury Marine in Fond du Lac had no real option but to swallow hard and accept cuts in pay and benefits to save their jobs and community.

The factory floor can't be much of a positive working environment, and no doubt there will be resentments against management and within the union, given that there were pro-and-anti contract factions along with unhappiness with union leadership, too.

Time and a better economy will certainly help, but it's going to be a long process.

Finger-pointing and anti-union judgementalism from the outside is of little value.
