Waukesha piling on bus route cuts, fare increases; UW-M impacted
Scott Walker's plan to strangle transit in Wisconsin while funding new roads for Foxconn and keeping the road-builders happy keeps advancing.
Last week this blog noted reductions in Milwaukee County transit services. Hard hit were bus lines serving K-12 pupils and students traveling to and from Concordia University and MATC in Mequon.
Now Waukesha bus managers
are getting into the act.
So, kids, add to that college debt and get yourself a car! - - as UW-Milwaukee explained to students and staff today:
Here is more information from the Waukesha County Transit System, and note that UW-M students lose these routes - - OE5, E5, W6, W7, W8 & W12 will no longer operate to/from UW-Milwaukee - - and must use cash and not their their UPASS cards on remaining services:

Due to changes in government funding, Waukesha County Transit Routes operated by Wisconsin Coach will no longer be free of charge to UWM students and staff.
Wisconsin Coach and Waukesha County have also reduced the frequency of routes 904 and 905, which come directly to UWM.
More details on these changes, including additional service updates, are available on the Waukesha Metro website.
Students and staff should note that fares on the routes must be paid in cash, as no credit cards are accepted and no change is given.
Those now seeking an alternate form of transportation can consider driving to the Capitol/Humboldt Park and Ride Lot and taking the UPARK shuttle to campus.
The MCTS Park and Ride lots are another good options.
