About That Iron Mine Up North, And How It's Going To Save The Economy...

Let's hear it for institutional memory: Xoff remembers when the same firm making all those rosy projections about the Ashland iron ore mine's economic benefits goofed statistically when analyzing a business proposition in Madison in 2006.

How many jobs, for how long, (Till the ore is gone, then 'See ya, Suckah's - We're outta here!'), at what price to Ashland County's Bad River watershed, to what detriment to the tribe, and to the water quality of Lake Superior?

It seems the powers that be in Madison are willing to short-cut and end-run DNR and environmental issues to meet the ideally fast-track needs of Cline Group's Penokee mining interests way up north. But at least the Tribe and Locals aren't letting this slide thru without question.
