Leah Vukmir Talks Legislative "Relics." Fine - - Repeal Milwaukee's Frozen Borders, Too

State Senator Leah Vukmir, (R-Wauwatosa), says it's time to get rid of bygone legislative "relics" that restrict Milwaukee public employees' residency.

OK: let's get rid of another restriction on Milwaukee freedom - - like that special state law that froze Milwaukee's boundaries a half-century ago - - and let the annexations and easier enrollment into suburban schools begin...starting just across 60th St. into Wauwatosa.

I don't know many Wauwatosa residents who would vote to be annexed into Milwaukee...

In fact... pretty much everything that Wauwatosa does is done to be different than Milwaukee in some way.

But hey... let's let the people decide.

As for residency rules - they're pretty stupid. You either force people to give up their personal liberty... a pretty basic one... where to live just to work for the city. I imagine that plenty of people who might normally want those jobs choose not to because they don't want to give up their freedom.
