Kathy Nickolaus Says She Is Not Stepping Down

Live-blogging this interview:

4:24 p.m. on 620 WTMJ-AM, she tells host John Mercure:

"I have no plans of stepping down from the Waukesha County Clerk position."

Blames the lack of "one piece" of hardware, having transitioned away from "1990's" equipment.

4:28 p.m. Says other counties use "the exact same equipment."

4:29 p.m. Says she's "unlucky," not incompetent.

4:30 p.m. Will take "major steps" to assure public confidence.

4:31 p.m. Promises "good, clean election" in May and June.

So there you have it.

Man, oh man, do Republicans own her now, and her track record - - along with come what may.

...which is traditionally what elected officials say just before stepping down.

I just read on Waukesha-Patch that Vrakas gave her an option of resigning or having the deputy clerk handle the upcoming recall elections.

Nickolaus chose to step aside for the upcoming recall.

Now the big question.... How long before Graeme screams "fraud" on the deputy clerk?
