Editing The NRA Message
Here is the headline on The NY Times account of Wayne LaPierre's NRA convention speech:
It should read:‘We Will Never Surrender Our Guns, Never,’ N.R.A. Official Says
'We Will Never Surrender Our Fiction That We Would Ever Have To Surrender Our Guns,' N.R.A. Official says

so what part of the second amendment don't you understand?
So what part of the second amendment do you think you do understand?
Better yet what part of the 2nd Amendment do you choose to ignore?
One shot muskets are still nice to play with, but if you are serious about defending yourself, your family and your community, you will want a weapon will a little faster reload time. No responsible adult would depend upon a musket for defense when AR 15’s or 9mm semi auto handguns are available.
Muskets don't have magazines and you don't have a clue.
The minutiae of gun construction and operation is a constantly convenient distraction from the results of the insanity that American gun culture has brought to society.

The part where you think 2 year old kids being shot to death is OK.
More weekly Freedom Shootings:
This week's compilation includes three God-given-but-somehow-forgotten guns, four accidents while cleaning loaded guns (which nobody ever does, though I've now found 102 who've done it so far this year), two home invasion shootings, one NRA-certified instructor shooting himself, six law enforcement officer FAILs, two more turkey hunters shot, and 10 kids accidentally shot, nine of whom either shot themselves or were identifiably shot by other kids under the age of 16. The victims are (or were) ages 2, 3, 4, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 14 and 14. All were accidentally shot within a seven-day span, from April 27th through May 3rd.

Look well, gun fetishists. This is your accepted level of carnage to make yourself feel good about your hobby.
No morons @5:08 and 10:09 as a veteran, life long hunter, gun owner and Concealed Carry permit holder my point is that you gun nuts are so blind that you fail to get the point.
Try and wrap your pea brains around the fact that when the 2nd amendment was penned muskets (single shot) were the ONLY weapons the founders envisioned. AND they associated ownership to a well "organized militia"
There was no mention of AR 15s or any other automatic / semi-automatic weapon in the 2nd amendment. None at all that they granted you or me the "right to bear".
Strict constructionist you are not.
It may be that single shot muskets were all that were available at the time the 2nd ammendment was written.
What is important however, is that the framers chose to give the citizens rights to the same arms as the government.
Same today. Government has ARs and so do the citizens. Just as the framers intended.

Where can I get my Hellfire-equipped drone? Wal-Mart?
If you believe that an AR is going to be a match for the military, you might need treatment. Heck, it wouldn't be a match for the typical POLICE DEPARTMENT; did you see the militarized show of force in Boston?
