Walker Mistakes Certitude For Awareness

On his message, but off-the-mark. His self-absorption, one-dimensionality and lack of insight is frightening:

"You see, when we prevail, God willing and with the help of voters June 5th, this will send a powerful message and not just to Madison," but across the country, he said.

"Conversely, if we lose, which is obviously possible in a 50-50 race, I think it sets aside any courage - Republicans or Democrats alike - in politics for at least a decade," he said.

It's just weird how Walker sounds when he goes off-script from Republican and ALEC talking points. His syntax is garbled, and he really struggles to make sense. He strings words together and it comes out all wrong. It was the same with Bush: go off-script and we're in a strange land where reason and language are only half connected.

But the logic of his claim about what will happen if the recall succeeds is just too much to bear. He tries to fear monger the issue by claiming there will be recall followed by recall in an endless round of recalls as punishment and payback. Somehow, government will be stymied. We'll have gridlock.

The only problem with that logic is that the current recalls aren't simply some petty political form of revenge. The current recalls are based on Walker and his allies turning back the clock 50 years in Wisconsin on everything from union rights to women's rights to voting rights. It's hardly simply a case of petty political revenge.

So he can imagine and pretend there will be endless payback. But, assuming the recall of Walker is successful, will independent voters support the Republicans in such a ploy? Will a large percentage of Wisconsin voters be angered over actions Democrats take after Walker is out? Is there anything Democrats can do to rival Walker and the Fitzgerald brothers's radical assault on all aspects of life in Wisconsin that would cause independents and working class people to support endless recalls?

It really is Dubya-esque, from the failed economic policies to being comfortable with being a corporate puppet to the cocksure "things will work out cause Jesus is lookin' out for me" arrogance that guarantees that he won't deal with adversity or any kind of reality.

Think how much better would we have been if we could have recalled Dubya and his incompetent advisors in 2006? We're in the same spot here, so finish the job this time.
