State Preservation Official Cites Legal Barriers To County Grounds Tear-Downs

A state historical preservation official tells Wauwatosa the plan to tear down the Eschweiler buildings on the County Grounds has several legal problems.

Read his letter, in pdf format, here.

Update: I see that my former Journal Sentinel colleague Jim Price had posted at Wauwatosa Patch a complete story on this issue, so with apologizes for missing it, please check it out.

And the bigger picture, too.

Good for them

I have worked with many of the people in the SHS over the years, and they are all good people.

Also worth mentioning: the National Trust For Historic Preservation indicates that preserving historic buildings helps preserve and improve property values, as well as maximizing private investment.

It's good business.
