Calling All Media: Wisconsin In January Reported A Year-End $121 Million Surplus

You can access the analysis prepared by the state's non-partisan Legislative Fiscal Bureau, which found the State of Wisconsin went into the current year with a budget surplus of $121.4 million.

Walker and the legislature created an instant deficit by immediately handing out tax breaks to corporations and others costing $140 million - - he campaigned promising billions in tax breaks - - and using that deficit, refused to manage employee costs through bargaining.

Then brought forward the budget repair bill that ends most public sector bargaining and legislates major restrictions on public sector unions statewide.

The bill is less a fiscal tool than a political bludgeon, for which Walker made a revealing, par-for-the-course rationalization on right-wing talk radio this morning.
