Xoff's Gaylord Nelson Bio Wins UW Press Award

Bill Christofferson's The Man From Clear Lake, a biography of former Wisconsin Governor and US Senator Gaylord Nelson, is the 2007 winner of The Steinberg Prize, awarded by the University of Wisconsin Press.

The prize is named for Elizabeth A. Steinberg, retired editor-in-chief and assistant director of the University of Wisconsin Press, and honors a UW Press book of distinction.

Award ceremonies are tonight in Madison.

Nelson, a lifelong environmentalist, became known worldwide as the founder of Earth Day, held every April 22nd since 1970.

The book is a great read - - no surprise, given Bill's reporting background and respect for Gaylord Nelson's achievements.
