Governor Act 10's new-and-improved message for state employees

In early 2010, he dropped the bomb on public workers.

But that was then, and this is an election year, so I hope you feel appreciated through this official, feel-good Tweet:

17 hours ago17 hours agoMoreDeclared today State Employee Appreciation Day throughout WI. On behalf of the more than 5.8 million citizens of our great state, I thank you, WI state employees, for the good work you do each and every day.
Though to be fair, the tweet is a veritable opus compared to his Earth Day message.

I almost didn’t publish this because it sounds so nit-picky, but I think it’s actually quite telling.

In my 30 years in the working world, I’ve seen countless proclamations from managers to employees, praising them for their work. They always use adjectives like “great,” “excellent,” and “outstanding.” Maybe they are sincere, maybe they’re not, but at least they say it.

From their boss, Wisconsin state employees get “Thanks for the good work.” Well folks, look at the bright side. I suppose he could have said something like, “Thanks for showing up, mediocrities.”

And I'm thinking, "Was that today?" because I'm sure not seeing or hearing anything about it at my State of Wisconsin workplace.

Ooops! Yesterday? Never mind.

We were notified mid-week that appreciation day was that day. Such warmth!

Symbolizing how bad it has become to be a teacher in Post Act 10 Walker's Wisconsin, in a 70% Republican voting southeastern Wisconsin public school district, high school teachers were ordered to come in 30 minutes early on Friday morning 5/11 for a mandatory faculty meeting. Teachers were warned that failure to show up could result in discipline,up to and including termination.

The reason for the meeting? So the Superintendent & School Board members could personally present them with a nice shiny red apple!

This district cannot figure out why their teacher turnover rate is rapidly increasing....
