Romney's Relentless Rocky Road

Why can't Team Romney pull off a clean event?

*  The London trip to certify his foreign-policy skills went off-the rails immediately when he dissed Britain's handling of the Olympics.

*  His pick of Paul Ryan as the GOP vice-presidential nominee quickly outed Ryan's hypocrisy on the stimulus, and Ryan's false-speaking in his acceptance speech about who, when and why the GM plant had closed in his hometown was still a major story more than 24 hours later.

*  Romney's acceptance speech was overshadowed by Clint Eastwood's crude and rambling anti-Obama schtick.

*  An acceptance speech that closed with a Romney wisecrack at President Obama's expense about the rising seas even as Hurricane Isaac's flood waters were inundating Louisiana and heading north.

Why does Romney misfire so often?

What do you bet Romney's visit to Jefferson Parish, Louisiana was designed to make up for that rising waters crack?
