Nice going.
Moviegoers at a screening of The Bourne Legacy near Reno,
Nev. had a bit of a scare on Tuesday night, when a man adjusted himself
in his seat and ended up discharging his gun right into his own
backside. According to witnesses, he apologized to the rest of the
theater and promptly left the movie. No one else was hurt.
“Witnesses inside the theater at the time the shot was fired stated
that a (man) was adjusting himself in his seat when a gun he had on him
discharged,” a town police spokesman said in a statement, via the Reno Gazette-Journal.

Imagine if the gun had discharged not into his own backside, but the seat in front of him, killing or wounding another moviegoer. Suddenly the entire theatre erupts into a barrage of gunfire coming from all directions and all of the concealed/unconcealed (what's the difference, really?) carriers. Gunfight at the Not-OK Corral. Panic ensues as people rush for the exits. Shooters can't tell who's a good guy and who's not. Police arrive. They can't tell either.
Not so far-fetched, is it?
Poor man, at least he didn't shoot anyone else.
he needs to get kramer's license plate.
Max B: Exactly, exactly. That is the nightmare scenario that is just waiting to happen. Damn all those irresponsible bozos saying that public safety increases with more concealed carrying going on.
Yes Max, it is pretty far fetched.
You obviously don't know many people with CCW licenses. Despite your personal theories, they don't walk around looking for an opportunity to fire their weapon.
RD, but the reason they give for carrying those weapons in public is to be able to defend oneself should violence break out, right? (Unless there's another reason and you just won't cop to it.) So my scenario lays out how exactly a gun accidentally discharged could easily lead to a free-for-all and no one is able to tell the good guys from the bad. Nothing has been resolved, and there are people hurt or dead for no good reason. All because the guns were loaded and holstered up: ready for action.
So, no, the scene I described isn't so far-fetched. And I completely disagree that people who carry guns aren't looking for an opportunity to use them. It's a lot of trouble to go to just to enhance your hips, so why do they they carry? Itchy trigger finger isn't just a phrase. Or a chance to be the hero.
Max,
You honestly don't have a clue.
49 states have and have had CCW and many for years. With 100,000's of people exercising their right to CCW, your fairy tale hasn't happened yet.
Unfortunately, there are many people like yourself hoping that something like you described actually happens. All in an effort to give CCW holders a bad name.
Have fun waiting!
