Motorcycle Driver Deaths This Year Outpacing '09 Rate By 20%+

Up to date statistics show motorcycle driver deaths this year outpacing the '09 rate by more than 20%, according to a WisDOT web site I am following.

This is a trend I first reported a few days ago - - because I keep seeing stories like this - - but will continue to post updates because the WisDOT site posts fresher data, too.

I've read that the more bicyclists there are on the road, the safer they are because drivers become more aware of them.

I wonder if the same is true of motorcyclists-it seems like there have been considerably less on the roads this year, so perhaps drivers are less aware of them?

As I said in my first post, I don't know why the number is higher.

It may be due to a multiplicity of things, or is an anomaly.

Maybe WisDOT will offer an answer?

Why did deaths previously peak in 2007 and then bottom out in the following year of 2008?

While there might indeed be a cause & effect to all this, maybe it is something as simple as random variability.

A concept you progressives seem incapable of comprehending.

Sounds like we need to authorize a multi-million $$$ tax-payer funded study to figure this out.

Then again I bet the answer would have something to do with seagull excrement.

You last 2 posters are awfully cavalier about 3 - 500 deaths. Or maybe it doesn't matter to you because you didn't actually know any one of those fatalities? You seem be conservatives: conservative in your compassion. ("We musn't care too much for others, or we shall not have enough care left for ourselves.") ?

I agree. This isn't a political issue. I am looking for awareness and answers.

It is political when you think the Government has the answer to everything.

When the reverse is more often the case.
