Downtown Milwaukee Lakefront design too sterile

Glad that Journal Sentinel arts critic Mary Louise Schumacher is promoting a conversation about the new downtown Milwaukee Lakefront development design competition.

Two words: Less concrete!

The Lakefront Gateway Plaza design by Graef includes a gentle pathway that offers several ways for pedestrians to sit, take in lake views and access a bridge.

An Szing exercise in arrogance and faux human "art" at the expense of the lakefronts' historic beauty as a public, open, and natural space. Sorry, the only word that comes my mind is MORONIC.

Shameful when people want to misuse taxpayers' money to build monuments to themselves.
