As Mother's Day Ends Today, Remember Why It Began

It had everything to do with peace, and nothing to do with cards and dinners out, as nice as those are.

I'm a Mother, and thank you for the lovely thought. For about 5 years now, instead of receiving flowers, breakfast in bed or brunch out, I've asked to be taken to a nature center, protected area, state park or other peaceful place, far from the madding crowds. Usually the weather has been not only cooperative but generous. So instead of noisy brunch crowds, I hear birds and frogs, instead of cut flowers, I get to see native flowers in their native settings, and instead of inhaling bacon and perfume fumes, I get to inhale fresh air!

It's so worthwhile to me and works with any budget.

Less stuff. More time.
