Gard To Run For Congress Again? Bad Timing
A top GOP party official thinks former State Assembly Speaker John Gard will run for Congress, trying to unseat incumbent Democrat Dr. Steve Kagan, who defeated Gard for the office in 2006.
Kagan won, in part, because Democrats were scoring big nationally in 2006, and 2008 will be an even bigger year for Democrats.
Which doesn't bode well for Gard and other Republicans.

The voters will be asking one question next year.
" Are you now, or have you ever been, a member of the Republican party ?"
If the voter's have a witch hunt...is it really a witch hunt, or just the mob with torches headed for Frankenstein's castle?
The Republicans would have a good chance at reclaiming that seat, but not with the most hated former legislator in the State.
While it's probably true that 2008 promises to be a rough election cycle for Republicans, I can actually see them picking up this seat, although by a very narrow margin. Kagen's said some pretty stupid stuff since he went to Washington, and while there's still time for him to turn things around, his district isn't exactly the most demographically favorable district for a Democrat to be in.
