Milwaukee Needs More Than Sweet Talk From UW System
With the UW system deeply rooted in its hometown of Madison, the City of Milwaukee and its legislative delegation better get some assurances about making the big city on the big lake the center of UW system water research.
Aren't we creating a redundant and competing center in this proposal? UW-Madison is the birthplace of freshwater science; the Center for Limnology is world-renowned. Is it wise to divert resources away from an institution that has proven success? The drinking water focus that Milwaukee has been promoting makes a lot of sense and builds on strengths that are already in place.
