Could A Walker-Inspired Independent UW-Madison Offer This Form Of Donor-Hiring Power?

Charles Koch, brother of billionaire David Koch - - the conservative mega-donor and power broker to whom Scott Walker thought he was chatting about union-busting and other far-right political goals - - donated $1.5 million through a foundation to Florida State University in exchange for hiring authority in its economics department, according to this Florida media report.

Set aside how bizarre and distant such an arrangement is from traditional academe and the Wisconsin Tradition: could the more privatized and independent UW-Madison campus under consideration by the Walker administration allow such an arrangement?

Could this help explain why the heck Walker is interested in re-arranging the UW system, starting with the Madison campus that would function under a separate board where he gets to appoint its majority?

These days, you gotta ask the question...
