Legislators Should Put SEED Boarding School Back In The Budget

Milwaukee was set to be the recipient of federal funds and private sector dollars to establish a public boarding school for some of the city's at-risk kids.

But the Joint Committee on Finance, at the direction of the Governor's Office, took it out of the budget.

It's that old Madison-Milwaukee disconnect, at its worst.

The plan had widespread support. A lost opportunity for innovative education involving hundreds of children in Milwaukee should be restored by the full legislature.
