Cities And The Green Dividend

The ongoing 17th Congress for the New Urbanism in Denver has heard a solid discussion of the value of cities to the environment.

Details, here.

With their emphasis on vertical development, fewer lawns to water and fertilize and focus on transit, walking and biking, cities save fuel, keep the air cleaner and save water.

Now if we only had policy-making that understood the need to preserve the urban environment with the same enthusiasm reserved for the North Woods and rural landscapes.
